The Office of Freshman Development and Special Student Services was established to assist freshmen and their families with their transition to the University throughout their freshman year and to assist all University students with documented disabilities.

The office serves to implement and direct programs which integrate and enhance the academic, co-curricular and social dimensions of a student's freshman year at Duquesne University. To accomplish this, the office is responsible for a variety of programs and events including: Orientation; DU Brother/Sister Program; Mentor Program; Freshman Parent Weekend; Freshman Weekend Trips; and developing freshman leadership through the Freshman Class Advisory Committee.

In addition, the office develops programs for freshman students by working closely with the Office of Commuter Affairs, the Office of Residence Life and Intramural Sports.
